A new car brand is coming to France… and it’s not Chinese
Lucid is not Chinese but American. The high-end electric car brand will sell the Air and Gravity models in France.
The French automotive market welcomes yet another new manufacturer. Lucid Motors officially announced its arrival in France on September 3, 2026, marking it as its sixth European market. However, this time there is no question of a new Chinese offensive: Lucid is an American brand, based in California and specializing in premium electric cars.
Its arrival in France will focus on two models. The Lucid Air is a large electric sedan that can develop between 442 and 1,251 hp, depending on the version. Most notably, its most enduring version claims up to 960 km of WLTP range, a particularly high figure in the current market.
High-end
Alongside it will be the Lucid Gravity, a large family electric SUV. This model boasts between 568 and 839 hp and up to 739 km of WLTP range. This clearly positions Lucid against high-end electric benchmarks from Mercedes, BMW, Porsche, and Tesla.
For its launch in the French market, the American manufacturer will rely on Emil Frey France, a major player in automotive distribution in the country. However, Lucid will retain responsibility for its brand, commercial strategy, and the customer experience offered.
The French public won’t have to wait long to discover these cars. Lucid will participate in the 2026 Paris Motor Show, held from October 12 to 18, showcasing the Air and the Gravity.
One major unknown remains: the prices of Lucid in France. Their announcement will gauge the true ambitions of this new American electric brand against European premium manufacturers, Tesla… but also against the increasingly numerous Chinese brands.
