Hyundai releases its new electric toy in France: 650 hp and a drift mode!

After the amazing IONIQ 5 N, Hyundai is back with the IONIQ 6 N. An electric sports car with 650 hp capable of simulating gear changes, making noise, and even drifting. The electric car is once again a toy!
Who said that electric cars must be quiet, smooth, and reasonable? Certainly not Hyundai. After shaking things up with the excellent Hyundai IONIQ 5 N, launched in France in 2023, the Korean manufacturer is doing it again with the new Hyundai IONIQ 6 N. Same recipe, different shape, and still one priority: to have fun.
And Hyundai has not done things by halves. With the N Grin Boost function, the two electric motors generate up to 650 hp and 770 Nm. The 0 to 100 km/h time drops to 3.2 seconds with N Launch Control, while the top speed reaches 257 km/h. Thanks to its 800 V architecture, the battery can also charge from 10 to 80% in about 18 minutes at a sufficiently powerful charger.
The Hyundai IONIQ 6 N even simulates gear changes
But the performance is hardly the most fun aspect. Hyundai has mainly focused on recreating everything that the electric car had made disappear. The N e-Shift system simulates gear changes like a racing car, while the N Active Sound+ offers several soundscapes. Even the interior lighting accompanies the gear changes.
And for the big kids, there is the N Drift Optimizer, which allows you to adjust the drift angle and wheel slip. The N Track Manager can record tracks, time laps, and even display a “ghost” car to try to beat your own time. With its imposing rear wing, widened fenders, and 20-inch forged wheels, this sporty IONIQ 6 fully embraces its character.
In short, Hyundai is offering us once again its fantastic electric toy for big kids. And in an automotive universe that has sometimes become terribly serious, this is quite refreshing, even at €79,000.
