The new MG models pose a direct threat to Tesla!
MG accelerates the rollout of its new range of electric cars in Europe by welcoming the IM family.
MG continues to develop its electric offering by announcing the arrival of the MG IM range in several strategic European markets. Following an initial launch in July 2025 in the UK, Norway, and Switzerland, the IM5 and IM6 models will be marketed starting July 2026 in France, Germany, Belgium, and the Netherlands.
This initiative is based on an electric sedan, the MG IM5, and an electric SUV, the MG IM6, both models aimed at strengthening the manufacturer’s presence in the European electric vehicle market. According to the brand, this expansion is part of a strategy aimed at making advanced technologies more accessible while continuing its growth on the continent.
State-of-the-art models
Both models are built on an 800-volt electric architecture, compatible with charging powers exceeding 350 kW. Under optimal conditions, MG announces a charging time of 10 to 80% in 17 minutes. The claimed maximum range reaches up to 655 kilometers according to the WLTP cycle.
The range also emphasizes driving assistance technologies. The vehicles are equipped with the One-Touch iAD system, which integrates several automated functions such as automatic parking, assisted parking exit, and automated reverse. MG also highlights the presence of a four-wheel steering system designed to enhance agility. The IM5 thus has a turning diameter of 9.98 meters.
Inside, the models offer equipment focused on comfort and connectivity, featuring a 26.3-inch infotainment screen, a 50 W induction charger, and an audio system comprising 20 speakers.
