Hyundai Pleos Connect

Hyundai launches Pleos Connect, an infotainment system that marks the concrete beginnings of its software-defined vehicles (SDV) strategy.

Available from May by Hyundai on the new Grandeur sedan in South Korea, this system will then be gradually rolled out internationally. The IONIQ 3 will become the first European model to be equipped with it. By 2030, Hyundai plans to install Pleos Connect on approximately 20 million vehicles from the Hyundai, Kia, and Genesis brands.

The system is based on an interface designed to combine intuitiveness and safety. It features a large central screen, an ultra-thin driver display located behind the steering wheel, and physical controls. This combination helps to minimize distractions while providing a smooth experience akin to that of a smartphone. The interface supports both full-screen and split-screen modes for enhanced versatility.

The vehicle in the era of software

Navigation has been significantly enhanced with real-time maps, precise navigation based on traffic data, and a simplified presentation thanks to the analysis of actual driver usage. Essential information is displayed in floating windows for quick reading.

At the center of the system is Gleo AI, a voice assistant based on a large language model. It understands driving context, handles complex natural commands, manages multiple simultaneous requests, adjusts vehicle settings, and provides online information (weather, news, etc.).

Pleos Connect also integrates an open App Market that allows direct access to services like YouTube, Spotify, or NAVER without connecting a smartphone. The platform will be scalable through OTA updates and opening up to third-party developers.
