Hyundai unveils its new electric weapon against the Renault 5
Hyundai presents the IONIQ 3 today, a 100% electric compact designed to democratize electric mobility in Europe.
Positioned as a direct response to the Renault 5 E-Tech, this aero-compact combines bold Hyundai design, generous space, and intuitive technology. Produced in İmit, Turkey, it will enter the European market in the second half of 2026.

The IONIQ 3 introduces a new style called “Aero Hatch.” Its fluid hood line, straight roof, and rear spoiler optimize aerodynamics to achieve a Cx of 0.263, among the best in the segment. This design stays true to Hyundai’s “Art of Steel” language, creating precise and taut surfaces, enhanced by the pixelated IONIQ light signature and four dots resembling the letter “H” in Morse code.

Despite its compact dimensions (4.155 m long, with a wheelbase of 2.680 m), the IONIQ 3 offers interior space worthy of a higher segment thanks to its flat floor and “Furnished Space” concept. The trunk reaches 441 liters (including the Megabox), while three adults can comfortably sit in the back.
Two Batteries and Fast Charging
Built on the E-GMP platform with a 400 V architecture, the IONIQ 3 offers two batteries:
- Standard (42.2 kWh): over 344 km of WLTP range
- Long Range (61 kWh): over 496 km WLTP
The DC charging goes from 10 to 80% in about 29-30 minutes. The onboard AC charger supports up to 22 kW. The front motor delivers up to 119 kW (162 hp) with a torque of 250 Nm.
Simple and Intuitive Technology
The IONIQ 3 is Hyundai’s first European model equipped with the new Pleos Connect system based on Android Automotive OS. With a display of up to 14.6 inches, it provides a seamless interface, advanced customization, and flawless connectivity (Digital Key 2, Plug & Charge, V2L).

The interior emphasizes comfort with recycled and bio-based materials, ventilated seats, a BOSE audio system, and a premium ambiance. Safety is ensured by the latest Hyundai SmartSense systems, including Highway Driving Assist (HDA 2) and Remote Smart Parking Assist (RSPA).
