Ligier announces record ranges thanks to its new batteries
The French manufacturer Ligier Group announces the expansion of its electric offering with the introduction of a new generation of batteries.
This technical evolution mainly concerns Ligier’s flagship models, Myli MAX and JS50, aiming to adapt the light quadricycle segment to the requirements of electrified mobility.
At the heart of this update is an 11 kWh (10.6 kWh usable) battery designed in collaboration with a European industrial partner. This component relies on a prismatic cell architecture and includes several technical specifications:
- Active thermal management: An integrated heating system allows for a operating range from -20°C to +60°C.
- Cold Drive function: This device ensures automatic preconditioning of the battery when plugged in, optimizing the charging phase in winter conditions.
Validation in extreme conditions: The technology has been tested for reliability in Norway at temperatures between -10°C and -20°C.
Range and Daily Use
The increase in energy capacity to 11 kWh has been calculated based on an average consumption of 15 to 20 km per day. According to the manufacturer, this configuration allows for longer intervals between charging sessions, potentially covering a week of standard use. The energy density has been optimized to minimize the impact of auxiliary equipment (heating, multimedia, air conditioning) on the overall range of the vehicle, which can reach 164 km in the WMTC cycle.
To accompany this electric drive, Ligier has integrated specific equipment aimed at improving comfort in winter:
- Heating system: A 1800W unit is installed as standard.
- Optional packs: Options including heated seats, defrosting windshields, and insulating battery covers are offered depending on geographic regions.
Charging up to 22 kW is done via different types of charging stations, providing flexibility according to the available infrastructure. On the service side, Ligier Group accompanies the launch of this battery with a 5-year warranty.
