Xiaomi proves that electric cars are progressing at an astonishing pace!

In less than two years, Xiaomi demonstrates that an electric car can profoundly evolve from one generation to the next.

The figure sets the tone: 15,000 units of the new Xiaomi SU7 model year 2026 sold in just 34 minutes. A lightning-fast launch that illustrates both the excitement for the model and the ability of the Chinese manufacturer to rapidly evolve its product. Because beyond commercial success, it is indeed the speed of technological progress that impresses.

Unveiled at the end of 2023 and launched in 2024, the SU7 has reinvented itself deeply in just 22 months. This 2026 version does not settle for a simple facelift: it changes the technical dimensions. The introduction of the new “Dragon Chassis” marks a turning point, featuring an architecture that combines double triangulation at the front and multi-link at the rear, paired in the higher versions with an adaptive pneumatic suspension capable of anticipating road conditions.

A Xiaomi case study

The power increase is equally spectacular. The Max version now reaches 508 kW, nearly 680 hp, while the entire range adopts the V6S Plus engine. The electric architecture, ranging from 752 to 897 volts, allows for very high-level charging performance, while supporting ranges of up to 902 km. This technical foundation comes with an expansion of battery capacities, ranging from 73 kWh to over 100 kWh. All for less than €35,000 in China!

However, perhaps the most notable evolution remains in the onboard electronics. Where some functions were previously reserved for high-end versions, Xiaomi is now generalizing key technologies: roof-mounted LiDAR, 4D radar, Nvidia Thor-U platform, and a computing power of 700 TOPS. Together, these power an advanced assisted driving system and a particularly sophisticated digital cockpit, featuring multi-screen interactions and enhanced voice commands.

Safety also progresses with the integration of nine airbags, the use of ultra-high-strength steels, and redundant systems for door operation, designed to function even under extreme conditions.

In contrast, the difference with thermal vehicles is striking. While gasoline and diesel engines stagnate, constrained by marginal evolutions, electric continues to advance at a sustained pace. In less than 18 months, the SU7 illustrates how radically different the same car can become.
