Tesla wraps up 2025 with a new industrial record, a symbol of its global influence despite declining sales.

Tesla has reached a highly symbolic milestone in its industrial history: nine million vehicles produced worldwide. This record was officially announced by Tesla Asia on the social network X, coinciding with the rollout of the anniversary model at the Gigafactory in Shanghai, the group’s most productive site.

The vehicle marking this milestone is a white Model Y, surrounded for the occasion by the teams from Giga Shanghai, gathered on the factory floor. In its message, Tesla thanked “its owners and supporters around the world,” reminding that this figure not only pertains to China, but represents the cumulative production from all Tesla factories, from the United States to Europe through Asia.

The Chinese Engine of Tesla

This threshold of 9 million was also celebrated by Tom Zhu, Senior Vice President of Automotive at Tesla. The executive congratulated all the industrial teams of the manufacturer, emphasizing the central role of employees in this performance, as well as the loyalty of customers, driving the brand’s growth.

This new record is even more impressive as it comes just 207 days after the announcement of 8 million vehicles produced. At that time, the symbolic model was a red Model Y rolled out from the Gigafactory in Berlin. Producing an additional million cars in less than seven months illustrates the spectacular acceleration of Tesla’s industrial pace.

In this dynamic, Giga Shanghai plays a key role. As the largest factory in the group by volume, the Chinese site alone surpassed four million cumulative vehicles in 2025. It produces the Model 3 and Model Y intended for the local market, as well as for export to many countries, making Shanghai Tesla’s main export hub.
