Opel unveils the first visuals and information on the new Astra and Astra Sports Tourer with updated design.
Opel is preparing to launch the new generation of its flagship compact, the Astra, which will be presented for the first time at the Brussels Motor Show, from January 9 to 18, 2026. Produced in Rüsselsheim, the future Opel Astra and Astra Sports Tourer introduce a rethought design and several technological innovations.
The front end adopts the Opel Vizor design with an illuminated Blitz emblem, already used on the Grandland. This lighting signature spreads horizontally towards the headlights and vertically towards the hood crease, enhancing the technical and contemporary aspect of the compact. New 17 and 18-inch wheels and unique metallic colors, “Kontur White” and “Klover Green”, are offered, with an optional contrasting black roof.
The Intelli-Lux HD lighting technology, unprecedented in the segment, includes over 50,000 elements. The adaptive headlights adjust the beam according to the steering angle and road conditions, limiting glare and improving the visual comfort of the driver.
Exterior and Interior Update
The interior focuses on comfort with standard Intelli-Seats, offering patented ergonomic support. Higher trims offer multi-adjustable seats certified by AGR, ReNewKnit™ upholstery made from 100% recycled materials, multi-level heating, massage function, and memory. Opel thus reinforces its “Greenovation” approach, prioritizing recycled and recyclable materials.
The electric drivetrain is progressing: the new Astra Electric features a 58 kWh battery providing up to 454 km of range (WLTP¹), which is 34 km more than the previous version. The Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) function allows powering external devices. The cargo volume reaches 1,339 liters for the 5-door version and 1,634 liters for the Astra Sports Tourer.
