Historic record: Xiaomi already profitable
By becoming profitable less than two years after the launch of its first electric car, Xiaomi achieves an unprecedented feat in the automotive industry.
Xiaomi has just crossed a milestone that seemed impossible a few years ago: its automotive business became profitable in the third quarter of 2025. According to the financial results published by Xiaomi and reported by Electrive, the automotive and AI division shows an EBIT of 700 million yuan, approximately 85 million euros. This is an unprecedented event in an industry where achieving break-even typically takes decades.
According to the same official data, the division generated 29 billion yuan in revenue, of which 28.3 billion were from electric vehicles alone. This represents 3.45 billion euros, a surge of +199% year-on-year and +36% compared to the second quarter of 2025.
Record Sales for Xiaomi
The surge in sales is another driver of this profitability. Xiaomi increased from 81,302 units in Q2 to 108,796 cars delivered in Q3 (+33.8%), according to the group’s quarterly report. Year-over-year, the volumes climbed by 173.4% (39,790 units in Q3 2024). The average selling price also rose: 260,053 yuan, up from 238,650 a year earlier, thanks to the growing popularity of the YU7 range.
According to Xiaomi’s annual report, the brand now relies on 402 sales centers and 209 service centers. In October 2025, the YU7 series became the best-selling SUV in mainland China.
The gross margin of the segment climbs to 25.5%, up from 17.1% a year earlier, driven by the decrease in component costs, economies of scale, and the launch of the SU7 Ultra in March 2025.
During a conference with analysts, CEO Lei Jun confirmed that Xiaomi will meet its initial target of 350,000 sales as early as this week, and now aims for 400,000 vehicles delivered in 2025. In total, including 2024, Xiaomi has already assembled nearly 500,000 cars, according to Bloomberg, which nonetheless points out several risks: tensions on memory chips and the gradual reduction of EV purchase subsidies in China.
