MG challenges the Tesla Model Y with its new MGS6!
MG unveils the MGS6 EV, a spacious and high-tech electric SUV, expected in early 2026 and announced at a very competitive price.
MG enriches its electric range with the new MGS6 EV, a large SUV scheduled for the first quarter of 2026. Based on the modular MSP platform already used by the new MG4, this model marks a step up for the Chinese brand now firmly established in Europe. Equipped with a 77 kWh battery, it will be available in rear-wheel and all-wheel drive versions.

The Luxury Propulsion version delivers 244 hp (180 kW) with a WLTP range of 530 km. The Luxury Dual Motor increases the power to 361 hp (266 kW), allowing a 0 to 100 km/h in 5.1 seconds, with a range of 485 km. Both variants benefit from fast charging at 144 kW, offering a charge from 10 to 80% in 38 minutes. Five driving modes, combined with five levels of energy recovery, including the “One Pedal” mode, enable optimal energy management.
With a length of 4.71 m, just 4 cm shorter than the Tesla Model Y, the MGS6 EV offers a generous family cabin complemented by two trunks, including a front trunk. The interior combines soft materials, natural lighting thanks to the fixed panoramic roof, and integrated physical controls. Technology is omnipresent: dual HD screens (12.8 + 10.25 inches), augmented reality head-up display, full connectivity, ventilated wireless charger, and an 11-speaker audio system. The finishes include leather or leatherette upholstery in gray or beige, adorned with suede effect inserts.
Modern and well-equipped
The model received 5 Euro NCAP stars, with 92% in adult protection and 84% for vulnerable road users. It comes standard with seven airbags and all MG Pilot assistances: emergency braking, lane keeping, driver monitoring, and blind spot detection. The Dual Motor version also benefits from a Continental braking system specifically developed for electric vehicles.

The MGS6 EV adopts a sleek design, featuring an active grille, aerodynamic shutters, 20-inch wheels, and a drag coefficient of 0.27, achieved after more than 900 simulations and 5,000 minutes of wind tunnel testing. The popular colors from MG’s palette are carried over, enhanced by a new color, Stratford Gold.

MG has not yet disclosed the official prices for France, but the prices published in the UK indicate a starting price of £37,995 for the entry-level version and up to £43,995 for the fully equipped Dual Motor version. It can therefore be cautiously estimated that the price range will be between €40,000 and €50,000, which would position the MGS6 EV among the most competitive electric SUVs in its segment, directly competing with the reigning Model Y!
