Alpine A290

The first 100% electric Alpine makes a striking debut and establishes itself as a new player in eco-responsible rallying.

In its first year in the FIA EcoRally Cup, the Alpine A290 showed that a production sporty city car could shine on European roads. Three victories, a run of podiums and an emerging benchmark status: Alpine posts a season that confirms its ambition in competitions dedicated to electric vehicles.

Contested on open roads with 100% production electric models, the FIA EcoRally Cup provides an ideal testing ground to validate energy efficiency, power management and the everyday use of a vehicle. With its A290, Alpine bet on a mix of performance, agility and precision, and the results followed.

Manu Guigou sets the pace

At the wheel, Manu Guigou, the first French two-wheel-drive champion behind the wheel of an A110 Rally, immediately adapted to this new discipline alongside his co-driver Émilien Le Borgne. Entered in category 2 for newly marketed vehicles, the duo quickly made their mark against experienced rivals, notably at the Eco Rallye de la Comunitat Valenciana.

Despite convalescence following a cruciate ligament operation, the Alpine ambassador recorded a first podium in Portugal at the Oeiras Eco Rally. Then the momentum accelerated: victory at the Mahle Eco Rally in Slovenia, success in Belgium at the e-Rallye Ardenne Road, then in Scotland at the EcoRally Scotland. A further podium in Switzerland at Chablais confirmed the project’s consistency.

As the season progressed, the A290 obtained its homologation and moved up to the top category. The GTS version then took podiums in Spain (A Coruña) and Portugal (Madeira), before reaching a symbolic peak: top performer of the E-Rallye Monte-Carlo, the discipline’s absolute benchmark. The campaign concluded in Italy, where Guigou finished as category number one, demonstrating the effectiveness of the A290’s sharpened chassis on the challenging roads of the Dolomites.
