Toyota BZ4X 2022: Prices of the Japanese Electric SUV

The first 100% electric Toyota vehicle, the BZ4X SUV, is now available for pre-order in France starting at €399/month before deliveries begin next September.

A pioneer in hybrid technology and promoter of hydrogen, Toyota was previously hesitant to produce fully electric cars. To adapt to upcoming bans on thermal vehicles, the manufacturer has finally launched the first model of its upcoming ‘Beyond Zero’ range, the BZ4X.

Five versions with 2 to 4 driven wheels

Following the official unveiling last autumn, the Japanese brand has opened pre-orders in France. Customers can now choose from five different configurations. The Toyota BZ4X is available in three front-wheel drive (2WD) versions and two all-wheel drive (4WD) variants. The three trim levels are Pure (2WD only), Origin, and Origin Exclusive.

Among the entry-level models, the BZ4X Pure includes 18-inch wheels, automatic climate control, an 8-inch central display, keyless entry/start, and a rearview camera. The Origin versions add adaptive LED headlights, parking sensors, an electric tailgate, a 12.3-inch central screen, and heated front seats.

The top-tier Origin Exclusive model offers two-tone paint, panoramic glass roof, 360° camera, blind-spot detection, and JBL audio system. For more details, visit the official page.

Reminder, the Toyota BZ4X offers 204 hp in 2WD (front motor) and 218 hp in 4WD (front and rear motors, each 109 hp), with respective torque of 265 and 339 Nm. The 71.4 kWh battery enables the SUV to reach up to 462 km in WLTP cycle (422 km for the 4WD variant). As for the Toyota BZ4X GR, it remains a concept for now.

Price of the Toyota BZ4X below €45,000 or €400/month

All these models are available for pre-order on the official website, but only with a 37-month lease with 30,000 km included. The Toyota BZ4X starts at €399/month for the Pure 2WD version and goes up to €579/month for the Origin Exclusive 4WD. These prices include an initial payment of €9,950, excluding eco bonus or trade-in bonus.

Here is the pricing breakdown for the Toyota BZ4X:

As a rough estimate, the Toyota BZ4X Pure 2WD is the only version eligible for the full €5,000 bonus, while the others can only receive €1,000. In purchase price terms, this means an entry point below €45,000.

Pre-orders have already started; however, deliveries will only commence from September 2022. This coincides with the launch of the Skoda Enyaq Coupé iV, one of many competitors.

30 Toyota and Lexus electric models by 2030

The BZ4X is the first vehicle of a true electric tsunami. Toyota revealed its strategy in December 2021 for the coming years, with a program of 30 new models and €31 billion in funding. Among these new vehicles, expect a larger BZ5X SUV, a BZ1 city car, a sporty coupe, and a pickup truck.

The investment is so massive that it will generate the production of 3.5 million electric cars annually by 2030. By that year, Lexus will also become a 100% electric brand in Europe, China, and the United States. This will start with the RZ SUV, launched in 2022.
