Can-Am joins the world of electric motorcycles

Returning to its roots, Can-Am will relaunch motorcycles in its lineup, but as 100% electric, with 4 new unprecedented models.

Nearly 50 years ago, in 1973, Can-Am was born with a range of off-road motorcycles, including motocross and enduro bikes. Now specializing in quads, the brand ventured into an unusual vehicle, the three-wheeled Spyder in 2007, which has since disappeared. 2022 marks a return to the origins as two-wheelers make a comeback (literally).

Can-Am will make waves, but not before 2024

“The motorcycle industry is shifting to electric” explains President José Boisjoli, “so we saw an opportunity to reclaim our heritage in motorcycles to re-enter the market”.

But what will these future machines look like? “Riders can expect these cutting-edge electric Can-Am bikes to be perfect for daily commuting and recreational riding on and off-road, thus staying true to the brand’s heritage of track & trail (dual-use)”, continues the brand.

In any case, Can-Am seems to be targeting the upper end of the motorcycle sector, focusing on sporty and off-road bikes, rather than small bikes like 50cc or 125cc similar to Yamaha or Super Soco or Motron.
