On the Tachyon NB, niobium can be found in the brake discs, onboard charger, and chassis. This metal could help reduce the weight of the vehicle without compromising the strength of the components containing it. Ultimately, the company Niobium believes it could play a “significant role” in the mobility sector. While it is not limited to this metal alone, the Tachyon NB’s mission is to demonstrate the viability and efficiency of solutions advocated by the Brazilian company.
A top speed exceeding 400 km/h
Lightning Motorcycles and Niobium believe that the Tachyon NB can break the 400 km/h barrier. However, it will need to go even faster to truly establish a new record. Currently, the record is held by Venturi’s Voxan Wattman, which reached a speed of 455.737 km/h. This performance was achieved by Max Biaggi on the Florida Kennedy Space Center track. Lightning’s record attempt will also take place in the United States, but on the Bonneville Salt Flats. The name of the driver has not yet been disclosed.
