Cake Bukk: a new electric motorcycle for the Swedish brand

With the Cake Bukk, off-road enthusiasts will be able to discover the silence of electric power.
On the occasion of EICMA 2022, Cake unveiled a new electric motorcycle. Named Bukk, the machine stays well within the spirit of what the Swedish company has done so far, with a very Scandinavian design and a minimalist approach. Categorized as a 125 cc equivalent, it is intended for off-road use.
The pursuit of the superfluous and the use of lightweight materials have helped limit the weight of the Cake Bukk to 85 kilograms (64 kilograms + 21 kilograms of battery). The electric motor delivers up to 16 kW peak and 420 Nm of torque at the wheel. The top speed reaches 100 km/h.
The regenerative braking power is adjustable in 3 modes. In mode 1, the Bukk is in full freewheel as soon as the rider stops accelerating. The 3 driving modes affect performance and hence range. A fourth fully configurable mode allows for custom settings. The WP air fork and Ohlins rear shock guarantee agility and precision according to Cake.
A Cake Bukk with 3 hours of autonomy
The removable battery has a capacity of 2.9 kWh. Since the machine is intended for recreational use, Cake reports autonomy in hours, not in kilometers. With a full charge, the Bukk can operate for 3 hours before needing to recharge. As for recharging, Cake estimates 1 hour and 30 minutes to go from 0 to 80%. A full recharge takes 2 hours and 30 minutes.
Cake plans to sell a first batch of 50 Bukk units in yellow. Interested customers can already pre-order one with a deposit of €1,000. As always with Cake, the price is quite high: expect €14,970 for one of the first 50 units.
