A few days before its official presentation, the Abarth 500 appears in unofficial photos.

The new electric 500 will soon have its Abarth version. The formula will remain the same: the car will become more aggressive visually and is expected to gain a few horsepower. However, it will no longer emit the characteristic growls of thermal Abarth models.

Abarth plans to unveil the car on Tuesday, November 22, at 2 p.m. Unfortunately for the manufacturer, unofficial photos have just appeared online, clearly showing what the supercharged 500 electric will look like. A slim consolation for Abarth: the person responsible for the leak apparently did not manage to take photos of the interior or the rear part.

The technical sheet has not yet been released. According to circulating information, the Abarth will use the same 42 kWh battery as the 500, without capacity improvements. And since it is expected to be more powerful and thus more energy-consuming, it will inevitably lose some range. As a reminder, the “normal” 500 can theoretically travel 320 km on a charge (WLTP mixed cycle).

An Abarth 500 with more than 200 hp?

Abarth is expected to offer several power levels. The most radical version would exceed 200 hp, roughly 80 hp more than the Fiat 500. A significant gain, which should lead to a notable performance improvement. As a proper electric car, it will perform best at launch and during acceleration phases.

The Abarth 500 will not have many competitors at launch, although the Honda e can be considered quite similar in terms of target audience. This situation will evolve in 2024 with the arrival of the Alpine R5.
