Royal Enfield Prepares Its First Electric Motorcycle

Royal Enfield did not showcase an electric motorcycle at the Milan 2022 show, but that doesn’t mean the manufacturer isn’t interested in the topic.

When first mentioned a little over 4 years ago, the idea of an electric motorcycle has gained ground at Royal Enfield. It even seems that testing has already begun, as a photo of a prototype has just appeared on Autocar India‘s website.

Although the shot only shows a small part of the bike, some interesting details can be noted, such as the very distinctive shape of the fork and the presence of a circular headlight at the front. You can also see the vehicle’s name, which is “Electrick01”.

As for the technical aspects, nothing has been leaked so far. Only the company’s internal team has an idea of the price, range, and performance of the first Royal Enfield electric bike.

First Royal Enfield Electric: Still Work to Do

According to Autocar India, the testing phases are not very advanced. The Electrick01 visible in the photo would only be an initial working prototype still far from the final model. Patience will be required before the first Royal Enfield electric hits the market. It is difficult to give an exact date for now, but nothing to expect before 2025. That is at least the timeframe mentioned by the brand’s CEO in a recent interview.

In the meantime, vintage enthusiasts wanting to switch to electric can still turn to the Swedish brand RGNT, which offers 125 cc equivalents with a retro look. The most iconoclastic among them can also consider retrofitting a thermal Royal Enfield.
