Hyundai Ioniq 6: Versions, Price, and Range of the Fully Electric Sedan

The impressive four-door coupe Hyundai Ioniq 6 features advanced technical solutions borrowed from the Ioniq 5. Wide range, promising announced autonomies, fast charging… Certainly a future bestseller!

Love it or not, but the Hyundai Ioniq 6 will surely attract a lot of attention. But the trend is towards sedans, or rather coupe sedans. Similar to the Peugeot 408 (plug-in hybrid), of course, with attempts to challenge the dominance of SUVs.

Moreover, Hyundai has kept us waiting regarding the technical sheet and final prices of its Ioniq 6, of which the first French models are part of a limited series called First Edition, with specific equipment, but only limited to 250 units, with a very premium price (62,500 €).

Dimensions and style Hyundai Ioniq 6

If you live in the city, forget about Hyundai’s latest release. At 4.86 meters long and 1.88 meters wide, this flagship of the Korean electric automotive industry is simply 10 cm longer than a Tesla Model Y, which by the way is not a small car (4.75 m).

But more than the dimensions, it is the lines that will appeal or catch your eye. At Mobiwisy, we find this style rather pleasant, with welcome nods to a certain German brand from Stuttgart. The interior closely resembles the Hyundai Ioniq 5 overall, but the lower roof height slightly penalizes access. Luckily, passengers benefit from ample space for the knees, and the absence of a transmission tunnel allows a fifth passenger to sit comfortably. On the downside, the trunk capacity is less impressive with only 401 liters, although a second front trunk is available to improve practicality or store charging cables. A word about the finish, with recycled materials well executed, such as these carpets or eco-friendly seats.

Motor and battery Hyundai Ioniq 6

Moving from Hyundai Ioniq 5 to Hyundai Ioniq 6, the mechanical choice remains the same, except that currently, the entry-level 150 hp front-wheel drive version is not yet available. So, for now, there are two versions: a 229 hp rear-wheel drive and a 4×4 transmission model called H-Trac with 325 hp. Presently, only the 77.4 kWh battery is available, with an output power of 277 kW and a voltage of 697 V.

In terms of aerodynamics, the Hyundai Ioniq 6 proves to be among the best in its segment, with a Cx of 0.21, almost equivalent to that of the Mercedes EQS (Cx of 0.20), but still significantly above the very exclusive Lightyear 0 (Cx of 0.175).

Range and charging

In this area, many values need to be considered, depending on whether you choose a version with small 18-inch wheels or a high-end model fitted with 20-inch wheels. The mixed consumption varies from 14.3 kWh/100 km with 18″ wheels in rear-wheel drive to 16.0 kWh/100 km with 20″ wheels. If you opt for the 4WD H-Trac version, the average consumption is now from 15.1 kWh/100 km (18″ wheels) to 16.9 kWh/100 km (20″ wheels).

The same distinction applies to range. For the rear-wheel drive version, expect from 614 km (18″ wheels) to 545 km (20″ wheels). For the H-TRAC 4×4 version, the average is around 583 km (18″ wheels) to 519 km (20″ wheels).

Currently, three trim levels are available, in addition to the launch edition First Edition: Intuitive, Creative, and Executive.
