Tesla Model S 2023: the Dual Motor returns with 634 km of range
This page is translated from the original post "Tesla Model S 2023 : la Dual Motor revient avec 634 km d’autonomie" in French.

Finally, the Tesla Model S sedan is back in a version with an autonomous range of up to 634 km in WLTP cycle, alongside the Model X Dual Motor.
For many months, the Tesla Model S took a pause, as did the Model X. The launch of the Model Y, the COVID-19 episode, and the facelift of the vehicle caused a bottleneck. Initially reserved for North American customers, the 2021 versions only arrived at the very end of 2022 in Europe. But once again, this was only for the high-performance Plaid variant.
One of the best ranges on the auto market
The American manufacturer now completes the lineup with the Dual Motor version. With two motors instead of three for the Plaid, this Tesla Model S is the most affordable version. It is also the least powerful, offering a more modest top speed of 250 km/h (compared to 322) and a 0-100 km/h acceleration in 3.2 seconds.
Logically, this Tesla Model S Dual Motor is the most efficient. Its roughly 100 kWh battery provides a 634 km range on the WLTP cycle, compared to 600 km for the other variant. Charging is identical, with a maximum of 200 kW, allowing 322 km to be recovered in 15 minutes according to the brand. The Model X Dual Motor, sharing the same base as the Model S, claims a 576 km range, 3.9 seconds from 0 to 100 km/h, and a top speed of 250 km/h.
The yoke steering wheel as standard, but not autonomous driving
With the same dimensions as the Plaid (5.02 meters long), the electric sedan has two trunks: 709 liters at the rear and 89 liters at the front. The Model X is more spacious, with a rear cavern of 1,050 liters and a 183-liter “frunk” under the front hood. The interior is identical, with the standard inclusion of a classic steering wheel or yoke, three screens including one at the rear, but an additional €2,400 is required for white or beige upholstery instead of black. Outside, the standard Tempest wheels are 19 inches, while the 21-inch “Arachnid” wheels cost €4,900.

Similarly, the driver assistance systems, Autopilot, which is just an advanced adaptive cruise control, is free on the Model S and X. The Enhanced Autopilot costs an additional €3,800, and the “Full Self-Driving” capability, a misleading term since autonomous driving is illegal in France, is priced at €7,500.
The price of the Tesla Model S Dual Motor
While the Model Y starts under €50,000, it’s known that the Model S has always been priced steeply. They are less costly than the Plaid, but the Dual Motor returns with a price of €113,990. The Tesla Model X Dual Motor cousin is priced at €121,990, a less significant difference than with the Plaid: €20,000 vs €25,000 on the sedan. And no eco bonus applies at this price.

Orders opened already on Friday, January 6, 2023, while deliveries are expected to start at the end of winter, according to the manufacturer.
