Suzuki announces the arrival of an electric Jimny

Suzuki has just unveiled its roadmap for the coming years. The Japanese manufacturer has given a sneak peek of its electric lineup, which will definitely include the Jimny.

Like all other car manufacturers selling vehicles in Europe, Suzuki has no choice but to progressively convert its lineup to all-electric. The Japanese firm has already established its roadmap, which it has now partially revealed.

Verdict: five Suzuki electric models will be launched in Europe by 2030. The first among them will arrive during the 2024 fiscal year. The presentation of the strategic plan shows outlines of these new electric models. One of them bears a striking resemblance to the Jimny. There is also a small cubic minivan, which appears to borrow the recipe from the Wagon R.

This first image suggests that the initial Suzuki electric cars will either be city cars, small off-road vehicles, or SUVs. They will generally have very reasonable dimensions, similar to the models currently available. According to Suzuki, this electric range will account for 80% of its sales in Europe by 2030. The remaining 20% will be hybrid models. Fully thermal Suzuki vehicles will thus have completely disappeared from view.

Suzuki also electrifies its two-wheelers

Suzuki also plans to offer electric options in the two-wheeler market, with no less than 8 battery-powered models scheduled by 2030. However, it is not certain that all of them will be marketed in Europe. Again, the first of these will be introduced during the 2024 fiscal year. Suzuki’s presentation confirms that there will be both motorcycles and scooters. The transition will be less dramatic than for cars, since two-stroke vehicles will still account for 75% of sales by 2030.
