Tesla Master Plan 3: What Are the New Features in 2023, 2024, and 2025?

CEO Elon Musk schedules an event on March 1st to announce his new long-term plan. What will the future Tesla electric cars be?

Before launching its Model S, Tesla had built a real long-term plan as early as 2006, called the “Master Plan.” 17 years ago, Elon Musk promised “a wide range of models, including affordable family cars.” Certainly more than the Roadster coupe that cost more than €90,000 at the time. He already announced a €45,000 sedan, with a third “even more accessible” model. He was referring here to the Tesla Model S, released in 2012, and the Model 3.

In the meantime, the idea of the Model X was born, influenced by the SUV success. Launched in 2015, it formed the concept of a “S-E-X” lineup. However, Model E became the Tesla Model 3, because the name was already registered by Ford. But everything eventually took shape: Model S in 2012, Model X in 2015, and Model 3 in 2017.

In 2016, CEO Elon Musk revealed the “Master Plan, Part Deux” (yes, in French in the text). He confirmed his lineup of two sedans and two SUVs, joined by the Model Y project. The catalog thus became very… “S3XY.” Elon Musk was already betting on an electric pickup. The Tesla Cybertruck was presented as a concept in November 2019, but won’t be on the roads before 2023. Another vehicle from Plan 2, the electric truck Tesla Semi, was seen in 2017 and is scheduled for delivery starting December 2022.

We also remember during the truck presentation that Elon Musk displayed another electric vehicle. The Tesla Roadster 2, a high-performance electric sports car, still does not exist. 

Perhaps we will learn more on March 1st. The head of the American brand announced that this date will mark the unveiling of Master Plan 3. As usual, the humble CEO promises “an entirely sustainable energy future for Earth”. But what does this new step for Tesla contain?

The electric compact car will be part of it, or at least its platform and key technical specifications. Musk confirmed this during the January-end financial results. Also planned for the manufacturer’s catalog, the “Robovan” will be a fully autonomous, 100% electric vehicle, expected as early as 2024. Other rumors are emerging around Tesla, including a smaller electric pickup to target the market and Europe, which is less fond of large machines exceeding 5 meters.
