A look at helmet lighting is already quite common among cyclists. The French company Ownyx has decided to apply this idea to the world of motorized two-wheelers.

Are motorcyclists not sufficiently visible? Would they be safer with more powerful lighting that clearly distinguishes them from other road users? For the French start-up Ownyx, the answer is yes, and this is precisely what prompted them to create the MRA, a helmet lighting system for two-wheeled vehicle users. Attached with magnets, this LED device operates with a box under the saddle that relays via Bluetooth.

“Placed at the back of the helmet, the MRA repeats the motorcycle’s lights at the highest level and with the widest angle: position lights, brake lights, turn signals, and hazard lights. The goal is for motorcyclists to be more visible from behind and the sides, perfectly within the field of vision of other users”, explains the company. Ownyx estimates the battery life to be around 5 hours 30 minutes at night and 12 hours during the day.

An Ownyx helmet lighting system for nearly €200

The equipment must be manufactured in France. Ownyx aims to begin production before summer 2023. The success of the current launch campaign will play a crucial role in achieving this goal. Regarding pricing, the system, including the lighting, mounts, and protective shell, costs €179. A lower price is offered during the launch campaign.

To raise awareness among the general public, Ownyx will participate in the upcoming two-wheelers’ show in Lyon. The event will be held from February 23 to 26 at Eurexpo park.
