Tesla Accelerates and Opens Its Charging Stations in the United States

The Tesla Supercharger network will double under pressure from President Joe Biden, opening up to competition by the end of 2024.

In an effort to promote electric vehicles in the land of pickups and V8s, the U.S. president and Tesla’s CEO have reached a agreement to open part of the network to other electric vehicles. About 7,500 Tesla “Supercharger” fast charging stations will be opened to competition by the end of 2024. The manufacturer has also committed to doubling its network.

Back in January 2023, they already discussed opening the stations to competitors. This agreement made yesterday between Elon Musk and the U.S. leader aligns with the “Made In America” investment plan against climate change. Including all networks and Tesla, an additional 500,000 electric chargers are expected to be installed across the country by 2030, according to Joe Biden.

Tesla at the forefront of an electric transition in the United States?

The Biden administration plans to develop a coast-to-coast charging network. This will eventually allow drivers to recharge their electric and hybrid vehicles as easily as gasoline-powered cars. 

The White House also aims to improve its existing network in nearby hotels and restaurants. Electric vehicle users will thus be able to recharge their cars more easily. 

The United States has a long history with internal combustion cars. Convincing consumers to switch to electric technology will not be without challenges. For those wishing to use this network, downloading the Tesla app will be necessary.

This interconnectivity between Tesla and other automotive brands already exists in Europe. It is no doubt that Tesla will benefit from privileged relations with the U.S. government to develop future charging stations in the land of cheap oil.
