The Cadillac brand confirms three new 100% electric SUVs after the new Lyriq, starting in 2024, which could also arrive in Europe.
The three new Cadillac vehicles have not yet been defined, but production will begin in 2024. The American brand has revealed few details about these future models. It is known that there will be a small crossover and two SUVs capable of accommodating up to seven occupants. It is not yet clear whether the parent company General Motors (GM) will offer these new models in Europe.
An Already Electrified Cadillac Range
The Cadillac Lyriq, already launched in summer 2022 in the land of the royal eagle (priced from $60,000), is expected to arrive on the European continent in the coming months. It competes with the Tesla Model Y, or the Audi Q4 e-tron in the same price range.
An electric sedan with 600 hp and a range of 483 km is also planned at the Warren plant (Michigan). It is called the Cadillac Celestiq, measuring 5.50 meters from end to end. But at 300,000 euros, it will be produced only in small series.
A Democratization of Electric Vehicles Led by GM?
Besides Cadillac, GM owns other brands that will soon release new electric models.
On the GMC side, pre-orders for the Hummer EV Edition 1 just came off the assembly line were snapped up. 77,000 orders were placed in an hour, with base prices rising to $112,595 (about €105,490 at current exchange rates). Its cousin, the Chevrolet Silverado EV, based on the same “Ultium” platform with LG batteries, will be more affordable and available next fall. The GMC subsidiary, which specializes in higher-end pickups, also unveiled the Sierra EV Denali version in October.
At Chevrolet, the Equinox EV and Blazer EV will also represent the brand in electric vehicles. The first develops 210 hp and approximately 480 km of range (variable depending on models). The larger Blazer EV claims up to 557 hp for the all-wheel-drive version and an approximately 500 km range. Buick will also benefit from these models, with its first electric vehicle in 2024, while the Corvette transitions to hybrid in 2023 before becoming 100% electric in 2025.
