Fiat 600e 2023: The Italian electric SUV prepares for its release

Cousin of the Peugeot e-2008, Jeep Renegade, and Opel Mokka, the future Fiat 600 SUV will arrive in France by the end of 2023 in an electric version.

The Fiat 500X is probably in the final months of its career in dealerships. The SUV, launched in late 2014, will finally make way after nine years of sales. The next chapter? The merger between parent company FCA and Peugeot — becoming Stellantis — requires all group cars to share the same platforms.

Therefore, the 500X will become a cousin to other compact SUVs: Peugeot e-2008, Jeep Renegade, Opel Mokka Electric, and DS3. Logically, the model will incorporate both thermal and electric powertrains. It’s not certain that the combustion engine (gasoline or diesel) will reach France, but an electric Fiat 600 is a certainty. Indeed, it is CEO Carlos Tavares who mentioned this a few days ago. The CEO confirmed that two new Fiat electric models would arrive this year.

The Fiat 600 already in final version on the roads

Specifically, the Fiat 600 is undergoing its final adjustments this winter. Scoop hunters managed to spot a prototype in Lapland, the land of winter automotive testing. It appears to be a combustion version, but the body will be identical to the electric one. The Italian SUV will not differ much from the 500X, but will emphasize its relationship with the electric 500 city car more strongly.

Regarding the technical aspect, the new 115 kW electric motor is expected to be part of the Fiat 600 electric lineup. It will also feature the 54 kWh gross capacity battery, providing approximately 400 km of range in a theoretical cycle.

Finally, it remains to be seen whether the name will be Fiat 600 Electric (or Fiat 600e?), or if the brand will keep the 500X name. No official reveal date yet, but we already know it will happen before the end of 2023. Estimated starting price: around €37,000.
