Renault Zoe: scheduled to be discontinued on March 30, 2024

In order to make way for the Renault 5, the Zoe will bid farewell after 12 years of service and revolutionizing electric mobility across Europe.

Icons are often thought to be immortal. Will the Renault Zoe remain one in the history of French automobiles? Very likely. Produced in nearly 450,000 units by the time it leaves its assembly line at the Flins factory, in the Paris region, the Zoe will leave a big void as it will not be replaced on the same site. The Renault 5 will be assembled in the renowned Electricity plant, specifically at the Douai factory in the North.

With its very streamlined appearance and high manufacturing quality, the Zoe quickly reassured those motivated to abandon their thermal vehicle. The small city car also received significant support from communities and government services, which widely equipped their fleets with the French model.

Over its 12-year career, the Zoe experienced seven “consolidated” technical configurations grouped under the names Phase 1 and Phase 2. Long at the top of electric car sales in France and Europe, the Zoe has gradually fallen in the rankings, even dropping out of the top 10. Its manufacturing process and current design, not optimized with new technologies, made it expensive and directly competing with models like the Scénic in the Renault catalog. Currently, the starting price, after a 5,000-euro bonus deduction, is 30,100 euros, while an MG4, which is technically superior, larger, and better equipped, is 20% cheaper.
