Which Tesla Model 3 to Choose for a Paris – Bordeaux Trip?

To answer this question, we used the Tesla planner. We considered the three available Model 3s: the Rear-Wheel Drive, Performance, and Long Range. 

Model 3 Rear-Wheel Drive

For the first model, the Model 3 Rear-Wheel Drive, the total travel time will be 7 hours for a 579 km trip. Three 15-minute stops are necessary to recharge your vehicle: the first at Thiais, the second at Poitiers, and the last at Angoulême. 

Model 3 Long Range 

The Model 3 Long Range has a range of 602 km in the entry-level version, compared to 491 km for the Model 3. 

For this, only one stop will be necessary to complete the Paris – Bordeaux trip. It will be at Poitiers, which will save you from stopping at Thiais and Angoulême. The charging time will be slightly longer, estimated at 35 minutes, with a total driving time of 6 hours 29 minutes and 587 km. 

Model 3 Performance 

Finally, the last model, the Model 3 Performance, has a range of 547 km, falling between its two siblings. 

The Model 3 Performance will allow you to make one fewer stop than the standard Model 3 but one more than the Long Range. Two 20-minute stops at Tours and Niort will be necessary during the trip. Like the Rear-Wheel Drive, the total travel time will be 7 hours. 

In the end, an additional 31 minutes are needed for the Tesla Model 3 Performance and Rear-Wheel Drive compared to the Model 3 Long Range. It is also important to consider that the total travel time varies due to the different locations of the charging stations. The Model 3 will be more than adequate for the Paris to Bordeaux journey. The prices for the three vehicles should also be taken into account: €41,990 for the smallest model; €49,990 for the Long Range; and €53,990 for the Performance.
