Which Tesla Model Y to Choose for a Paris – Rennes Trip?

A few days ago, Mobiwisy published an article about a Paris – Lyon trip in a Model Y. However, will the results be the same between Lyon and Paris?

For this comparison, we tested the three vehicles in the Y range with the help of Tesla’s planner. The Tesla Model Y, Long Range, as well as the Performance. But which car is the fastest for this trip, and which model offers the best value for money?

The Tesla Model Y

Initially, the Model Y was available for us to test. The entry-level version has a range of 455 km in WLTP cycle. For this trip, it will need to travel from Paris to Rennes with a 35-minute stop at the Le Mans station. The journey will last a total of 4h14 for a total distance of 360 km.

Tesla Model Y Long Range

The second vehicle in the range is of course the Model Y Long Range (we’ll save the Performance for last). Its range is much greater than that of the other two vehicles, with a WLTP cycle range of 533 km. For the trip, you cover 360 km in 4 hours. Only one stop is needed, still at Le Mans, with a 15-minute recharge.

Tesla Model Y Performance

Can the Model Y Performance beat the Long Range? It is the last vehicle in the comparison, and this trip takes 4 hours to cover 360 km. A 15-minute stop is needed for recharging, again at Le Mans.

As you may have noticed, the travel time for the Tesla Model Y Long Range and Performance is the same. However, a price gap is more significant — €7,000 for the Tesla Model Y Performance. Yet, it is only 14 minutes longer than the Tesla Model Y Standard Range, which costs €7,000 less than the Long Range, and €14,000 less than the Performance. The Tesla Model Y is therefore the most attractive in terms of value for money and journey duration.
