Tesla Model Y: Its new colors will be invisible in France

Since July 2023, the Berlin factory producing the Tesla Model Y has added two new shades to the catalog, with an extra cost of 8,000 euros!
Have you ever wondered why we only see Tesla Model Y in white or black on our roads? Rarely blue, gray, or red… and even less often equipped with the optional 20-inch rims.
The reason is simple: all these “eccentricities” increase the bill and exclude the Model Y Propulsion from the ecological bonus, which is capped at 47,000 euros. The friendly “Induction” rims are valued at 2,100 euros, while the two new shades added to the catalog are not cheap…
First, there’s the very metallic Quicksilver, whose reflections highlight the lines of the Tesla Model Y. Its price is set at 3,000 euros, bringing the total from 45,990 euros to 48,990 euros. Then there’s the stunning Midnight Cherry Red, priced at 3,200 euros.

These two shades have replaced the equally “avoided” colors, Night Metallic Gray and Multicoat Red. But these new colors have a significant advantage: they certify the production origin of your vehicle, as white and black models may not come from the Berlin factory (Germany), but from Shanghai (China). The Quicksilver and Midnight Cherry Red will therefore guarantee the inclusion of the new LFP (lithium iron phosphate) battery developed by BYD, rather than the lithium-ion version found in Made in China models. Slightly heavier, the LFP also offers higher energy density, resulting in better range.
It’s now a question of whether the additional cost for these shades (bonus 5000 plus the painting) is worth the 8,000 euros at stake. Asking the question is already providing the answer…
