To celebrate the 500,000 units produced since its launch in August 2021, the BYD Dolphin is offering a very nice special edition.

The BYD Commemorative Edition features a sporty red complemented by a black roof, a color that is also found on the front grille. The BYD logo is framed by LED light accents.

But to turn a small compact into a nice sporty model, a few color touches are not enough. Luckily for us, BYD knows this well. Side skirts and a roof spoiler energize the line, and they even went as far as designing a new sporty rear bumper. Add black and red alloy wheels of 17 inches to this little Chinese rocket, and it’s ready to hit the road with a furious… electric whine.

Because the Dolphin has all the characteristics that allowed the Renault Clio or Peugeot 208 to become super fun little race cars. Compact dimensions primarily, measuring 4,150 mm long, 1,770 mm wide, and 1,570 mm high. To ensure dynamism, the wheels are pushed to the corners with a 2,700 mm wheelbase. A big electric go-kart with 4 real seats and a 320-liter trunk.

Inside, already very well equipped, BYD simply added a smaller multifunctional three-spoke steering wheel to enhance sporty sensations. The bucket seats covered in synthetic leather are highlighted with visible red stitching. With 175 horsepower and a torque of 290 Nm, it’s not a track terror, but it can still catapult you from 0 to 100 km/h in 7 seconds.

This special series is sold in China at a price below 17,000 euros. Don’t dream too much; if it ever arrives in France, after passing customs barriers, it should cost around 35,000 euros.
