MG

The official poster for the 2024 edition of the Rétromobile show highlights MG on the occasion of the brand’s 100th anniversary.

This celebration of MG’s rich history is no coincidence, as the manufacturer is more than ever gaining momentum. Just five years ago, MG was a brand destined to enter Wikipedia archives as a vanished British jewel. A symbol of an carefree era where driving a lightweight little convertible was the height of sophistication, but it had failed to make the transition to mass-produced automobiles. Sensing a good opportunity, in 2007 the Chinese group SAIC acquired the struggling brand and made MG its Trojan horse to conquer the world. The roll of the dice turned out to be a stroke of genius!

A Glimpse in the Retro

The brand with the octagonal logo marked its era and continues to shine in the world of collector vehicles. Holder of numerous international records achieved during prestigious races such as the 24 Hours of Le Mans, the Tourist Trophy, or the Monte Carlo Rally, MG reached worldwide fame in motorsport by the mid-20th century.

MG Towards the Future

Through a unique exhibition of a dozen vehicles organized in partnership with the MG Club of France and the British Motor Museum, visitors will have the chance to discover some unique models from the museum and its reserves, including the 1925 Old Number One and the 1938 EX135. To honor the 2024 poster of the Rétromobile show, the EX181 from 1957, once driven by Stirling Moss and Phil Hill, will also be displayed within the main exhibition of the show, under the glass roof of hall 1.

Finally, MG, now owned by the SAIC group, will be present at the show to celebrate this centenary with a retrospective on its stand dedicated to the brand’s roadsters. A significant legacy for the MG Cyberster, which marks the return of sporty roadsters in the lineup. A renaissance oriented towards the future, featuring a modern design driven by an all-electric powertrain. As they say, keeping an eye in the retro is always beneficial.
