Therefore, the long-term rental (LLD) offer revolves around two identical options at 299 euros/month, for 49 months, 40,000 km, with 2 years of maintenance included. But there are “buts”…
Electric Version
This refers to the Avenger trim with the standard red paint and 16-inch steel wheels. The list price is €39,000 before eco-bonus. Standard features include air conditioning, automatic wipers, LED headlights, a 10.25-inch digital screen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and a 4-speaker audio system.
The electric powertrain is the well-known Stellantis combination of a 115 kW (154 hp) motor and a 54 kWh battery. Sufficient for daily use with up to 300 km of “real” range and quick charging at 100 kW. However, the stinginess extends to optional charging cables, priced from €249 to €719 depending on power level!
Gasoline Version
The offered trim is called Altitude +, with a list price of €27,000. Again, the standard color is Ruby Red, and 17-inch alloy wheels come standard. In addition to its electric counterpart, this Avenger Altitude + includes rearview camera, electric tailgate, 8-speaker hi-fi system, removable trunk floor, storage pack (including rubber floor mats), tire inflation kit, autonomous emergency braking, and adaptive cruise control.
The engine is a small 3-cylinder 1.2-liter turbocharged unit producing 100 hp, coupled with a 6-speed manual transmission. Less dynamic than its electric equivalent and with a WLTP fuel consumption of 5.6 liters/100 km. In reality, expect around 7 liters per 100 km.
Summary
Both offers naturally have their strengths and weaknesses. At €299/month, the idea of driving a compact SUV is appealing. However, to benefit from this rate without any down payment, you’ll need to justify the €7,000 eco-bonus (taxable income under €14,500 per part per year).
The gasoline version involves fewer constraints, except for an initial deposit of €1,500.
The question then shifts to the immediate and long-term costs. The gasoline version inevitably has higher operating costs. With fuel at nearly €2 per liter, the 40,000 km driven will cost about €5,600 in fuel. For the electric version, at €0.22 per kWh and an estimated actual consumption of 18 kW/100 km, the cost drops to €1,584. Or even less if you are smart and recharge at free charging points (supermarkets, hotels, restaurants, etc.). This option isn’t available with gasoline. The difference amounts to roughly €82 per month in favor of the electric version, which is significant in an increasingly tight budget.
In the end, Mobiwisy would choose the electric version, which is much more economical. And to hell with less-equipped features.
