The Tesla Model 2 Less Extreme Than the Cybertruck

Elon Musk spoke to announce a more “conventional” Model 2, but promises it will remain “Beautiful and Cool”.

After announcing that Tesla was digging its own grave with the Cybertruck, Elon Musk wanted to be a bit more reassuring when discussing the highly anticipated new Tesla Model 2. This may not be a bad idea considering the poor financial results of Q3 2023, which caused the stock to plummet. That’s Musk’s style: a firm slap followed by a gentle caress.

When asked if we should expect a similar approach to the Cybertruck, Musk recalled that the new generation platform is much more conventional than the Cybertruck and involves far fewer technical innovations. Naturally, a sedan does not face the same constraints as a rugged pickup truck.

” This high-volume, low-cost vehicle is actually much more conventional,” Musk confirmed. We are doing everything in our power to simplify the new generation vehicle to reach an unprecedented level of units produced per minute in the automotive industry’s history.

The head of Tesla shared his thoughts on the design of the car, describing it as “cool” and “beautiful,” but foremost “utilitarian.” “It’s not intended to fill you with admiration and magic,” he clarified, but to take you from point A to point B.”

It is still unclear whether this vehicle will be produced at the Giga Mexico factory or in Austin, USA. Musk has, however, stated that Tesla is taking a cautious approach with its new factory. “In Mexico, we are preparing the ground for production, but we are waiting for a clearer view of the global economy and demand before ramping up fully.”
