Renault Kardian is a compact and urban B-segment SUV. It features the brand’s new stylistic identity on its front face with the “Nouvel’R” logo and a new lighting signature.
It houses fairly basic mechanics under a decisively modern exterior. It stands out with premium features such as 17-inch wheels, a high console with a “e-shifter” gear lever, and MULTI-SENSE settings that influence driving and interior ambiance. This interior is also customizable with 8 lighting moods. Renault Kardian is additionally equipped with 6 airbags, 13 driver assistance systems (ADAS) including a blind spot alert and multi-view camera. It doesn’t take long to realize that Dacia’s DNA runs through this Kardian!
Kardian inaugurates a new modular and highly versatile platform from Renault Group, which will enable the development of a wide variety of models for many markets outside Europe. At launch, Kardian will be equipped with a 125 hp, 1.0-liter turbocharged 3-cylinder engine with 220 Nm of torque, paired with a dual-clutch automatic EDC gearbox. Unfortunately, there will be no hybrid or electric version at the moment… for now!
With a strong industrial presence in several regions of the world, Renault will begin production of the Kardian at the Curitiba plant (Brazil). Later, it will be produced at the SOMACA plant in Casablanca, Morocco. A move towards European and African markets? It would be surprising if not.
