BMW iX2 production has begun

Just a few weeks after its debut, the all-new BMW iX2 rolls off the assembly line at the BMW factory in Regensburg.

Various types of variants of the model will be flexibly produced in Regensburg on a single production line, whether they are powered by internal combustion engines, plug-in hybrid vehicles, or fully electric. Up to 1,000 cars from the BMW Series 1, BMW X1, and BMW X2 ranges are currently leaving the production line each day, destined for customers around the world.

An all-electric variant has been part of the new range since its launch: the BMW iX2 xDrive30. Its two motors, one on the front axle and the other on the rear axle, generate a combined power of 313 hp (230 kW) with the temporary boost function and a torque of 494 Nm. The BMW iX2 xDrive30 accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 5.6 seconds and reaches a top speed limited to 180 km/h. The 64.8 kWh of usable energy in the high-voltage battery allows an range of 417 to 449 kilometers according to the WLTP standard. Adaptive recuperation and the “Max Range” function also contribute to these impressive but not exceptional autonomy figures. By the end of the year, the BMW Group will invest more than 350 million euros in vehicle production in Regensburg, creating permanent jobs for about 500 new employees at the site.

Moreover, the BMW Group plant in Regensburg is the first automobile factory in the world to use a fully digital and 100% automated process for inspecting, treating, and marking painted vehicle surfaces. A model based on robots controlled by artificial intelligence (AI). This marks a new step towards a digital, intelligent, and connected factory.
