The manufacturer Yuanhang Auto begins production of a very large sedan with a 150 kWh battery that would provide 1020 km of range…
Presented in July, delivered in November. In China, the phases of design, homologation, and production are incredibly swift… to say the least alarming. It must be said that the process is well-practiced: there’s no need to bother with fine-tuning; these cars are major Mechanics assembled from off-the-shelf, already homologated parts.
This is the case with this Yuanhang Y6, a very large sedan nearly 5.5 meters long that caters to China’s desire for size and presence. The wheelbase measures 3.13 meters, and the only panoramic glass roof covers 3.2 m²!
The platform is supplied by the association Huawei (the globally renowned electronics company) and Bosch (the well-known German firm). The technical baseline with 800-volt technology is thus serious and serves ALL models in Yuanhang’s lineup: Y6, Y7, H8, and H9, the latter two being enormous SUVs.
Various technical configurations allow for different numbers of motors, drive modes, and cells in the battery. In its most extreme version, the Y6 would combine two electric motors with a combined power of 520 kW (706 hp) driving a huge 150 kWh battery. Chinese homologation cycle, which is more lenient than in Europe, validated a 1020 km range and acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h in 3.2 seconds. In Europe, the range would be roughly 20% lower… still about -200 km.
The exterior design is plain, but the interior is more inviting. Chinese manufacturers excel in connectivity, with oversized screens and standard 4G connection. Truly a limousine, the Yuanhang is truly appreciated at the rear, where two lounge seats provide all modern comfort.
And since this is China, this “electric Rolls Royce” configured as such will cost you 530,000 Yuan, or about 67,000 euros…
