Volvo Envisions a Big Future with the EM90

The Volvo EM90 is the new fully electric premium minivan from the Chinese-Swedish manufacturer.

After the smaller SUV EX30 introduced earlier this year, Volvo makes a bold electric move with this EM90.

The EM90 offers a range of up to 738 kilometers on the CLTC test cycle, which is surely more than 650 km on the WLTP cycle. The vehicle is equipped with a 116 kWh battery, and the charging time from 10 to 80% is expected to be less than 30 minutes. Powered by an electric motor with a power output of 200 kW, the EM90 can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 8.3 seconds.

This large minivan with Volvo’s distinctive identity is also equipped with all the necessary features to support bidirectional charging. This functionality allows you to use the EM90’s battery to charge other cars and electrical devices.

Beyond state-of-the-art technology, expectations for this type of vehicle—especially if it’s a Volvo—include optimal comfort. For this, acoustic insulation is combined with road noise cancellation technology. It’s like having the on-road equivalent of noise-canceling headphones or earbuds. It allows you to fully enjoy the experience with a total of 21 Bowers & Wilkins speakers that transform the interior into a private concert hall during journeys.

Inside, the driver has a 15.4-inch infotainment screen, while an additional high-definition 15.6-inch screen can emerge from the ceiling whenever you want to entertain family or participate in a professional video meeting.

The Volvo EM90 will initially be available in China before possibly reaching the European market, which is still somewhat cautious about this type of vehicle… But the transportation of tomorrow should open up new prospects for it!
