More Power for the Toyota Yaris Cross Hybrid

A new Hybrid 130 engine completes the self-charging hybrid lineup of the Yaris Cross, Toyota’s “Made in France” SUV.

Toyota optimizes the characteristics of the Yaris Cross with better performance and a more enjoyable driving experience. To achieve this, the small SUV features a new hybrid powertrain, safer and easier driving thanks to the latest safety and driver assistance systems Toyota T-Mate, a fully digital user experience, and design updates.

The Yaris Cross receives the new “Dual Hybrid” powertrain, already adopted by the Yaris, which uses Toyota’s fifth-generation hybrid technology. The hybrid system, equipped with a 1.5-liter thermal engine, is combined with a new transmission unit with a more powerful electric motor-generator (MG1). Paired with an optimized power control unit (PCU), it allows a 14% increase in the system’s combined power, rising from 116 hp/85 kW to 132 hp/97 kW. At the same time, the torque of the MG2 motor-generator has been increased across the entire speed range, with a maximum increase of 30%, from 141 to 185 Nm. This new Hybrid 130 engine is available on premium trims, including the new Yaris Cross Première, Collection, and GR SPORT.

The new Yaris Cross also benefits from a series of optimizations aimed at reducing noise and vibrations. A dynamic damper has been added to the left engine mount, a resonator has been installed on the intake duct, the dashboard insulation has been upgraded from one to three layers, and additional felt padding has been added to the engine hood insulation. To combat wind and road noise, thicker glass is now used for the windshield as well as the front and rear side windows.

Finally, the small Japanese SUV features a special Aventurine Green body color, in a two-tone finish with a black roof, as well as new 18-inch five-spoke alloy wheels offering a dynamic and robust look. Inside, the stitching of the upholstery and the decorative lines on the dashboard and doors are matched to the green body color. External two-tone colors in lunar white pearl and mineral gray are also available.
