Alpine and Michelin are partners to equip the upcoming electric models of Alpine’s Dream Garage, starting with the A290.

The Alpine A290 will feature a range of three special and marked tires to outfit its 19-inch rims:

• The MICHELIN Pilot Sport EV: sporty summer tire with optimized energy efficiency, capable of combining grip, longevity, and range.
• The MICHELIN Pilot Sport S5: the most sporty summer tire, designed to exploit the full potential of the A290’s performance on dry and wet surfaces.
• The MICHELIN Pilot Alpin 5: winter tire offering a high level of grip to face the most varied winter conditions, especially in cold, wet, and snowy or icy terrains.

Developing each tire is a real challenge, especially on an electric vehicle. It must ensure its range but also take into account a new distribution of masses associated with high and instantaneous torque. With a length of 3.99 meters, the Alpine A290 features a short wheelbase, promoting agility, and its widened tracks increase stability, especially during braking. These also allow for more than a 15% increase in tread section with 225 mm width, thereby increasing the contact area with the ground.

The joint development of Michelin tires for the A290 considers these new parameters to maximize the vehicle’s performance. No less than two years of development were needed to find the perfect combination.

The specific tires for the A290 offer a wide range of performances to meet different needs. Easily identifiable, this unique marking ensures the maintenance of original performance with each replacement throughout the vehicle’s life. It will be applied to all tires that will equip the upcoming electric range of Alpine’s Dream Garage.
