The new Twingo in photos

The head of advanced design for the diamond-shaped brand has posted some photos of his baby on Instagram. And it’s a real Twingo!

Beyond the major economic stakes for Renault, the renaissance of the Twingo is a significant challenge as the original model revolutionized the automotive world. These new photos of the prototype were revealed by its own designer. Sandeep Bhambra joined Renault in 2021 and has since been in charge of advanced design. He reunited with Gilles Vidal after more than ten years at PSA, which became Stellantis.

The concept car is heavily inspired by the first generation launched in 1992. These small round headlights, this cartoon-like car silhouette, the intake on the right side of the front hood, the door handles with surrounds—all bring a smile and fond memories. How could it be imagined that this iconic Twingo, never matched by subsequent generations, was so criticized and even mocked at its launch? Just one change, and it’s a big one, the version presented today has five doors!

But great expectations bring great responsibilities, and Renault will need to deliver a perfect copy, especially since this car will not arrive on our roads until 2026.
