Ford Challenges Tesla with Its F-150 Lightning Switchgear

Ford has unveiled an ultra-unbridled and sporty version of its electric pickup F-150 Lightning, the first competitor to the Tesla Cybertruck.

Tesla doesn’t have the monopoly on COOL. And in this case, it is quite likely that the next F-150 Lightning “Raptor”, this wild variant of the electric pickup, would be a huge hit. The oval-behind-blue-gear manufacturer understands that adopting electric will rely on excitement and character.

While a Ford pickup is competing in the Dakar rally in January 2024, its electric cousin is revealed in an even more “concept” version with spectacular appeal. With its 37-inch development wheels (18-inch rims), wide track width, highly sophisticated suspensions, carbon bodywork adorned with decorations, the visual impact is fantastic.

At the front, the suspension is a double wishbone independent setup, like a racing car. At the rear, it features a multi-link axle with oversized springs and shock absorbers. Inside, the five occupants will be strapped into bucket seats that are somewhat uncomfortable but provide perfect support.

No details regarding the electric powertrain have yet been revealed, nor any indication of imminent commercialization. But knowing Ford and its playful CEO Jim Farley, who is passionate about motorsport, a more industrializable version is plausible depending on customer response. And in the face of Tesla, no effort should be spared in the communication domain. Moreover, the Cybertruck’s effect has faded, even fizzled out over the Atlantic.
