Renault Connects the Past and Future

Renault celebrates its 125th anniversary from January 31 to February 4, 2024, at the 48th edition of the Retromobile Show in Paris.

To accompany the launch of the full hybrid Rafale E-Tech on display at the stand, the brand is showcasing a replica of the aircraft Caudron-Renault Rafale C.460, born from the acquisition of the aeronautical company Caudron by Louis Renault in the 1930s.

At that time, Renault was the leading automobile manufacturer to study and produce lightweight engines dedicated to aeronautics. Pioneering aerodynamics, Louis Renault notably commissioned Marcel Riffard, an aeronautical and automotive engineer and designer of the Caudron-Renault Rafale aircraft, responsible for several of the brand’s record-breaking models.

Waiting for the Renault R5 electric

While waiting to discover R5 E-Tech electric on February 26 at the Geneva International Motor Show, Renault presents three resin mock-ups of the silhouette of Renault 5 Prototype, revealing, for the first time, the official colors of the production model.

For this pop culture automobile icon, the French manufacturer has chosen a modernized and electrified palette – with yellow, blue, green tones – just as revolutionary as the original model launched in 1972.

To celebrate these 125 years of history, Renault presents five successful racing models inspired by this pursuit of technological excellence in the service of performance:

• 40CV (1926) with a single-seater body, equipped with a engine of more than 9,000 cm3;
• Nervasport (1934), which broke nine international records and three world speed records;
• Riffard tank 4CV (1956), with a highly streamlined body like an aircraft wing;
• Etoile Filante (1956), an experimental car powered by a 270hp turbine;
• Dauphine “speed week” (2016), built to commemorate the 60th anniversary of the Etoile Filante record on the Bonneville salt flats in Utah, USA, in 1956.
