McLaren Artura Spider

McLaren offers a retractable roof on its Artura Hybrid. A great way to enjoy the sound of its 690 horsepower V6.

Although the McLaren Artura was unveiled in 2021, its sales could only start last year due to quality control issues. Despite this setback, McLaren maintains pressure on this high-potential model and reveals numerous improvements including increased power, revised suspension, and a Spider version.

The Artura Spider is McLaren’s first hybrid convertible. It features an upgraded version of the 3.0-liter, 120-degree V6 engine paired with an electric motor. The system now delivers 690 horsepower to the rear wheels, an increase of 19 horsepower compared to the 2024 model. The electric motor’s power remains unchanged at 94 horsepower, mainly serving as a temporary boost.

Power and gadgets

McLaren claims that the Artura Spider accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in less than 3.0 seconds, and 0 to 200 km/h in 8.4 seconds. Top speed is electronically limited to 320 km/h. In addition to launch control, the Artura inherits a new gadget feature called « Spinning Wheel Pull-Away ». A system that simply disconnects all driving aids to allow Burnouts and other Donuts to impress the golf club friends at the parking lot exit. It’s unnecessary, damages the transmission and tires… but it was absolutely necessary!

On the less fun but more practical side, the 7.4 kWh lithium-ion battery has been slightly improved. McLaren states that it has managed to gain a few more kilometers of additional range, promising up to 34 km of all-electric autonomy. Reasonably, don’t expect more than 20 km according to the manufacturer’s own admission, but it’s enough to cool the tires after the antics.

The order books for the McLaren Artura Spider and coupe models for 2025 are now open, with deliveries scheduled for mid-year. The 2025 Artura Spider will start around 280,000 euros, and the Artura coupe for 2025 will now sell for 255,000 euros. Owners of 2023 and 2024 models will be able to benefit from free engine updates by visiting their nearest McLaren dealership.
