Pirelli Tires to Enhance the Porsche Taycan GT Turbo

Pirelli has developed a specific range to equip the Taycan Turbo GT, the most sporty version of Porsche’s electric lineup.

A Pirelli for everyday driving, and a second semi-slick homologated for the road. Both tires were launched at the beginning of the year and have been specifically adapted, in collaboration with the German automaker, to enhance the sportiness and efficiency of the ultimate Taycan. Both feature the Elec marking on the sidewall, indicating that they incorporate a set of technological solutions tailored to the characteristics of electric vehicles. They made their debut in 2019 on the first generation of the Porsche Taycan. Today, Porsche’s range includes more than 30 Pirelli-approved tires with Elect technology designed to support Porsche’s transition to electric across various models, such as the Macan.

The P Zero R tires approved for this model are dedicated to daily driving while being compatible with more sporty outings. The double-ply carcass makes the tire structure highly resistant and capable of supporting the loads exerted, especially at the rear, by aerodynamic downforce and the presence of batteries. In this way, the vehicle remains stable even at high speed.

From the road to the track, and vice versa

Reliable for road driving but track-oriented, the P Zero Trofeo RS is the most sporty variant offered by Pirelli for the new Taycan. In fact, it is the most advanced high-performance tire in Pirelli’s road range, a semi-slick tire made with specially formulated compounds derived from rally products.

Pirelli and Porsche made significant joint efforts in the development of these tires. Tests carried out with Porsche driving dynamics engineers and development driver Lars Kern were crucial to obtaining products tailored to the goals of the Taycan Turbo GT on the Nürburgring, where the electric sporty model reached speeds above 300 km/h.

The P Zero R and P Zero Trofeo RS developed for this model are available in sizes 265/35ZR21 and 305/30ZR21. To complete the range of Pirelli options for the Porsche Taycan, the company has developed over the years the P Zero, P7 All Season, P7 Blue, and P Zero Winter, in sizes from 19 to 21 inches.
