The extreme Ford Mustang GTD will be sold in Europe
On the occasion of the 60th anniversary of the Mustang, Ford is about to announce the limited sale conditions of the Mustang GTD.
Ford confirms the upcoming arrival in Europe of the most incredible Mustang ever produced, the Mustang GTD. Road-legal, this race-derived car is equipped with cutting-edge technologies.
Hidden in a garage behind an airstream in Allen Park, Michigan, a handful of enthusiasts gathered in 2021 for a new mission, which on paper looked like an impossible dream: designing a Mustang capable of competing with the best European sports cars. The result is the limited edition Ford Mustang GTD, ultra-performant, road-legal, with the true soul of a Mustang. Designed and developed in collaboration between Ford and Multimatic, which also developed the Mustang GT3, the Mustang GT4, and the Ford GT, victorious at Le Mans in 2016, the Mustang GTD represents the culmination of decades of technical advancements driven by continuous racing experience.

The Mustang GTD benefits from intensive use of carbon fiber body panels to reduce weight, lower the center of gravity, and improve responsiveness. The wings, hood, rear hatch cover replacing the trunk lid, door sills, front splitter, rear diffuser, and roof are all made from carbon fiber, with optional front and rear bumpers also in carbon fiber.
Under all this carbon fiber beats the heart of the beast—a 5.2-liter supercharged V8 at a maximum of 7,500 rpm. This engine delivers exceptional notes through an optional titanium active-valve exhaust system. It is the most powerful production Mustang ever built by Ford. Power from the engine is transmitted to the rear wheels via a carbon fiber driveshaft connected to an 8-speed transmission for a near 50/50 weight distribution front to rear.

The setup includes front tires 325 millimeters wide, as wide as the rear tires of the Ford GT, and rear tires 345 millimeters wide, mounted on 20-inch forged magnesium wheels.
Spectators of the upcoming 24 Hours of Le Mans on June 15 and 16 will be able to see the Mustang GTD in action and witness the Mustang GT3 participating in the classic endurance race. Orders for the Mustang GTD are expected to open this summer at a price exceeding 300,000 euros.
