The First Hybrid Porsche 911 Unveiled

The development of the first hybrid-powered Porsche 911 has successfully been completed, and the car is ready for production.

The first hybrid-powered Porsche 911 is at the starting blocks. After extensive development and testing programs, the high-performance hybrid is prepared for series production.

“For the first time in 61 years of history, we are installing a hybrid drive system in a production 911. This innovative hybrid makes the 911 even more dynamic, says Frank Moser, Vice President of the 911 and 718 model ranges. We left nothing to chance during development and tested the new 911 in all kinds of conditions around the world. From freezing cold to scorching heat, as was the case during the final testing phases in Dubai. The new 911 has confidently met the most challenging conditions. Overall, our engineers and test drivers have covered more than five million kilometers during development.”

The 911 hybrid faces the Nordschleife test

During these tests, Porsche brand ambassador Jörg Bergmeister took the beautiful German to face the ultimate test, the Nürburgring Nordschleife. The 911 hybrid completed a lap in 7’16″934, 8.7 seconds faster than the corresponding 100% combustion engine version. The test vehicle was equipped with standard road tires and the aerodynamic kit with a fixed rear wing, available as an option for several generations now.

“The new 911 has become significantly faster on the track, Bergmeister exclaimed. We have more grip, much more power, and the immediate response of the hybrid offers a major advantage in terms of performance.”

Just a few more days to wait before unveiling more details about the model, whose digital world premiere is scheduled for May 28 at 3:00 PM.
