Citroën C3

An attractive price for the new Citroën C3 that could overshadow its superstar cousin 100% electric ë-C3.

By opening orders today for the C3 in its thermal versions, Citroën revives a best-seller in the European market sold in over 1.5 million units since 2016. Inherently popular, it targets a wide audience by being affordable and offering different energy solutions tailored to the customer’s needs. It thus offers a Hybrid 100 version that facilitates access to electrification by providing up to 50% of urban journeys in electric mode without the need for recharging.

In its entry-level version, the Citroën C3 offers a 1.2L Turbo gasoline engine with a power of 100hp, paired with a 6-speed manual transmission. In the mixed WLTP cycle, this version aims for 126g CO2 / km (homologation in progress) and a limited penalty of 240 euros.

The hybrid on the agenda

Based on 48V Hybrid technology, the electrified version combines a 48V Lithium-Ion battery that recharges during certain driving phases, with a 3-cylinder gasoline engine of 100 hp (75 kW). All of this is coupled with the new electrified ë-DCS6 dual-clutch transmission integrating a 21 kW electric motor produced in France. In the mixed WLTP cycle, this version is homologated at 117g CO2 / km. During strong accelerations, the electric motor delivers an additional power of 9 kW (approximately 12 hp),

Maintaining the mini SUV look inaugurated on the ë-C3, it offers a raised ground clearance and a respectable roof height, without excessively increasing the length of the car. With a length of 4.01m, the new C3 only grows by 19mm compared to the model it replaces. It remains compact and suitable for the urban jungle with a turning diameter of 10.6m.

Inside, the seating is raised by 76mm compared to the current version. This allows occupants to have a higher and more reassuring driving position. In addition to numerous clever storage spaces in the cabin, the trunk volume is generous and increases by 10 liters to reach 310l. Its capacity can be augmented thanks to the modularity of the 60-40 rear bench on the “Max” version.

Simplicity according to Citroën

This internal combustion engine version features the same finishes as the electric version:

The “You” entry-level version is already equipped with LED headlights, a head-up display, a Smartphone Station for infotainment, electric mirrors, automatic lighting, a Speed Limiter-Cruise Control, manual air conditioning, and 6 airbags.

The “Max” version includes, in addition, bi-tone paint with a contrasting roof, decorative roof rails, front and rear protection plates, 17-inch diamond-cut alloy wheels, LED taillights, and tinted rear windows. Inside, it receives a 10.25-inch color touchscreen, foldable second-row seats 60/40, automatic air conditioning, wireless charging, a rearview camera, an electrochromatic rearview mirror, and electric rear windows, along with electrically folding and heated exterior mirrors, automatic wipers, and automatic switching of low beam headlights.
