At 14,990 euros, what does the Citroën C3 petrol offer?

With its new C3, Citroën strikes hard, both in terms of price and the relevance of its car. Future best-seller?

Less than 15,000 euros for a new car. Moreover, a B-segment vehicle equipped with 5 doors and all modern comforts. In 2024, this is a true industrial and commercial feat. The new Citroën C3 gasoline – and not electric in this case – deserves our attention.

First and foremost, it should be noted that patience is required to drive the Citroën C3. Deliveries are scheduled for October 2024 for the first customers, as stated on the commercial website of the brand with the chevrons.

The version priced at 14,990 euros features a PureTech engine with a power of 100 horsepower coupled with a manual transmission. The entry-level YOU trim comes with the standard “free” color, referred to as Monte Carlo Blue. Inside, the upholstery is black/gray patterned fabric.

WARNING: this engine is not considered environmentally virtuous enough, and with 126g of CO2 emitted per kilometer, it incurs a registration penalty of 230 euros. This elevates the actual purchase price of this Citroën C3 to 15,220 euros!

Of course, the MAX trim is even more generous and comfortable with redesigned seats, but it costs 4,210 euros more.

One detail, however, raises concerns about this YOU version: the radio (and music in general) is only accessible via your smartphone and a dedicated MyCitroën Play application. Not very practical or safe when changing tracks while driving. From a safety and practicality standpoint, we’ve seen better.

Finally, sound quality will be limited to two speakers at the front. Let’s not forget that we are talking about a car priced at 15,000 euros in 2024.

In the end, for a price lower than that of an asthmatic Renault Twingo, which has a smaller size and habitability, and sometimes questionable road behavior, the Citroën C3 gasoline in YOU trim offers more and positions itself as a market reference. Its 100 horsepower ensures that it can escape from cities and their outskirts, something not offered by all budget-friendly city cars.
