With the bonus, the Fiat 500e drops to 25,500 euros

In the trough of the wave, the cute Fiat 500e has no choice but to cut its prices to maintain its appeal.

Are you familiar with the marketing term “discounting”? In France, it has a negative connotation as it is associated with low-quality products sold cheaply. In practice, it is more of a sales technique applied wisely to help achieve objectives and is implemented sparingly because it can create negative effects in the long term. In short, sales: a few weeks a year to clear out anachronistic products.

At Fiat, it is a bit more complex: the 500e is not anachronistic, but the clientele willing to spend 30,000 euros on an electric city car is very limited. These consumers have already taken the bait and absorbed the first years of production, but now, the turnover is not enough to avoid generating excess stock. The United States is a new market for clearing cars since 2024, but shipping costs are neither simple nor painless. Consequently, on the other side of the Atlantic, the Fiat 500e is almost as expensive as a Tesla Model 3 once federal incentives are applied…

Under 30,000 euros

The Fiat 500e has another problem: the upcoming arrival of serious competitors, including the Renault R5, which will offer a base version with 150 horsepower and a 52 kWh battery (410 km of range) for under 30,000 euros after a 4,000 euro bonus. Therefore, the small Italian car is going on the offensive, with an entry-level “Sedan” version equipped with the small 23.8 kWh battery offered at a “discounted” list price of 29,550 euros. Once the bonus is applied, this 500e drops to 25,550 euros.

The only real constraint is the range, which is limited to 200 kilometers in real conditions, which is twice less than its French rival, whose first units will be delivered in the autumn of 2024. It is possible, in our opinion, to negotiate for an additional discount to fall below the 25,000 euro mark if you are keen on having this nice little Fiat assembled in Italy.
